Teachers, reading specialists, school administrators, literacy coaches, pre-service educators and others who are interested in early literacy education are invited to attend.The National Reading Recovery & K-6 Classroom Literacy Conference will be held  in Columbus, OH, February 2-5, 2013 at the Greater Columbus Convention Center.  


Over 110 sessions, led by nationally respected literacy experts, are offered focusing on all aspects of K-6 literacy including; comprehension, struggling readers, writing, building on students’ strengths, Common Core State Standards, RTI, non-fiction, ELL, assessments, parental involvement, literacy coaching, Reading Recovery, children’s literature, administration, and much more.  The Conference also includes Featured Speakers, Preconference Institutes, and Keynote speakers; Peter Johnston, Pat Scharer, and Brian P. Cleary.

 Parent Session — Helping Your Child Learn to Love Reading

On Saturday, February 2, from 2:00-3:00 pm, this free session is open for parents and Conference registrants. Content includes choosing books to share with your children and how to effectively share those books, as well as tips for helping children learn how to read on their own. Presenters are Patricia Scharer, Evelyn Arthur,

Christina Dorr, and Lisabeth Deskins. The Exhibit Hall will be open after the session.


African American Read-In will follow the Parent Session at 3:00 pm.
