Description

The Danish Architecture Centre have initiated a conference looking into the role the architecture institution can and should play in the 21st century. A three-day exploration of future visions for the architecture institution.

The Danish Architecture Centre is preparing the emergence of a new architecture institution in Denmark. The institution is scheduled to open in 2016 in a building designed by OMA, situated in the heart of Copenhagen.

In collaboration with a number of Danish and international players we have initiated a conference looking into the role the architecture institution can and should play in the 21st century. We hope that you will be part of qualifying the general question as to how do the institutions become drivers of change.

Three central themes will be the focal point of three days of networking, workshops, roundtable discussions and inspirational presentations:

IMPACT – How does the 21st Century Architecture Institution create value for society? By introducing the theme “Impact” we want to discuss cultural and political agendas of the architecture institutions: The role they undertake in relation to the audiences, partners and stakeholders either as the communicators of an art form or as agents of change among politicians and the business community or as both.

CONDITIONS – How is the 21st Century Architecture Institution organized? The organization and financing of the architecture institutions is vital. We will focus on the way we form partnerships and the way we interact with stakeholders varying from grass root to politician.

METHODS – How can the 21st Century Architecture Institution further develop the products we offer to our audiences? The dissemination of architecture and city planning is more important than ever. The theme “Methods” will focus on the current dissemination activities of architecture institutions and urges everyone to exchange experiences, ideas and concepts.

WHO WILL ATTEND The conference will bring together about 100 international capacities in the field of disseminating architecture. Attached you will find the tentative programme and a list of the invited parties. Participation in the conference is by invitation only, and is targeted at a select group of key figures, all related to architecture institutions around the world.
