Description

The verb design suggests an active process. Moving our field forward together entails assessing the opportunities and challenges ahead and re-inventing approaches for a new era. As advocates, practitioners and individuals who are dedicated to creating a society that embraces difference and creates space for all people, we can draw inspiration and learn a great deal from the artists, engineers and others who shape the world around them to achieve specific goals.

Each one of us can be part of creating a more desirable future for all. The challenges that we confront as a field are real, diverse and complex. Overcoming them requires new perspectives, tools and approaches. It is time to put our hearts and minds together to work more effectively to help the people we support live, love and work as valued members of the community.

The 2014 conference is a global gathering to help design the future of our field. We invite you to open your minds and join us in constructing new possibilities for the future.
