Anxiety and pain have been recognized as the main causes for emergencies in the dental setting; thus, a careful patient’s evaluation, anxiolysis with behavioral and/or pharmacological techniques and a full analgesia through appropriate techniques of local anesthesia are essential for both safety and quality of dental care. The aim of both EFAAD and Italian co-Sponsor associations (AINOS and AISOD) is to promote scientific information among all dentists in the management of dental anxiety & phobia, pain and emergencies. The IV EFAAD congress will highlight the state of the art in the five main topics of the discipline, in order to achieve a “5-Star Dentistry” assuring the best overall quality of care.

Plenary lectures from world authorities, panels and workshops will set the scene for a comprehensive and critical discussion. It will be an excellent opportunity for dentists, assistants, nurses, fellows and students to meet all colleagues and other professionals and exchange information with them. Pre-congress courses will be held on the role of hypnosis and behavioural techniques in dentistry, on sedation with N2O and on Basic Life support & Defibrillation, to get a deeper insight and skill in these fields.
