Program Purpose / Objectives
Purpose: To review acute and rehabilitation care for a variety of common illnesses and injuries.
1. Acute Stroke Management
Objective: Review and discuss acute stroke/TIA guidelines
2. Subacute and chronic management of the Stroke Patient
Objective: Differentiate functional recovery vs Neurological recovery.
3. Acute Chest Pain
Objective: Understand limits of EKG and lab.
4. Rehab Interventions for Post M.I./C.A.B.G.
Objective: Implementing a cardiac rehab Program.
5. Concussion
Objective: Understand literature and initial management
6. Post Concussion Syndrome and Rehabilitation
Objective: Understanding and implementing present guidelines for return to sports/work.
7. Acute Swollen Joint
Objective: Define appropriate interventions.
8. Arthritis and Other Musculoskeletal Disorders
Objective: Discuss varying treatment options that enhance function and quality of life.
9. Acute Non-oncological /Non-traumatic Pain
Objective: Design patient specific plan when acute intervention is necessary.

Objective: Presentation of interventions in addition to medications.
11. Chronic Pulmonary Rehabilitation
Objective: Discuss home and long-term management goals and treatment options for the chronic pulmonary patient.
12. Acute Respiratory Distress
Objective: Cite and discuss relevant literature to develop more uniform practice interventions.
13. Bariatric Dilemmas
Objective: Discuss the present literature about exercise interventions.
14. Acute Dilemmas in Bariatric Patients
Objective: Formulate plan based on present literature.
This Live activity, "From Emergency Care through Rehabilitation: Selected Common Illnesses and Injuries 2012 Update for Primary Care Providers" with a beginning date of July 8, 2012, has been reviewed and is acceptable for up to 13.50 Prescribed credits by the American Academy of Family Physicians.
