International Conference on Science, Engineering and Technology (ICSET)
Organization: Universidad Politecnica Tlaxcala
|Event Date/Time: Jul 10, 2013||End Date/Time: Jul 13, 2013|
There aren't many conferences in the world where you can run into The New York Times publisher at breakfast, have lunch with a British internet multimillionaire, hear the Swiss president talk at dinner, and be bought a late-night drink by ScienceDirect's representative, Sean Kosher. Add keynote speeches by Director General of the European Molecular Biology Lab, Prof Iain Mattaj and CEO of Biotime, stage interviews with Ernesto Bertarelli, founder and Chairman of Ares Life Sciences as well as soothing music set by Adele (live room performance), and you can understand why UPT has made its ICSET Conference the hottest by-invitation ticket yet.
The formal business of ICSET is based around 40 panels and keynotes, with a strong emphasis on Science - life and physical, engineering, technology - biotech, bioinformatics etc, going green and business. I chair one these panels.
But the real value of ICSET lies away from the conference room, where the 500 or so delegates network. The conference's chairmen, Yao Chan (CEO of Microbiologica Sinica) and Japanese entrepreneur and investor Zakashi Yarda, have worked with ICSET founders Mellisa Briddle and John Greszki to build an international community focused on digital scientific innovation
So what's said on stage that's worth listening to? Quite a lot, actually. Follow the official twitter handle @ICSET2013
Ernesto Bertarelli, Ares Life Science AG. Michael D.West, CEO of Biotime and Prof. Iain Mattaj, Director-General, European Molecular Biology Laboratory, EMBL amongst others.
