The 22 nd National Laser Symposium sponsored by Board of Research in Nuclear Sciences, Department of Atomic Energy will be organized at MIT, Manipal University, Madhav Nagar, Manipal, during January 8 to 11, 2014. The NLS aims to create a platform for budding researchers in laser physics and technology to interact and network with eminent scientists in this field. The symposium will cover invited talks by leading experts, poster presentation of contributed papers and thesis presentation by Ph.D. students. The symposium organizing committee cordially invites all the scientists, engineers and students engaged in basic and applied research in the broad areas of lasers and related fields to participate in the symposium.
The symposium is being organized at Manipal University. The seed for its magnificent growth was sown way back in 1953 with the flagship Kasturba Medical College. Today it has 24 professional institutions of medicine, engineering, management and humanities. The University is making a strong headway in research as well. The University is home to 28,000 students pursuing undergraduate and post graduate programs in diverse subjects. Manipal weather is quite pleasant during the symposium period and the expected day time temperature is between 22-25 C. Manipal is well connected to the chief Indian cities by road, rail and air. There are two main cities close to Manipal that serve as entry points - Udupi via rail and Mangalore via air. Udupi is 5 km from Manipal and Mangalore is 65 km away.
