Description
Oncology drug development is different from drug development in other therapeutic areas. The specific features of the preclinical and clinical development of new therapeutic agents for the treatment of cancer will be addressed during this course. The course will cover the complete development process, from preclinical development, through early-phase and late-phase clinical development, to post-registration clinical studies. It will also address general aspects of (medical) oncology as well as strategic and regulatory issues in the development of cancer therapeutics.
- Part A: General introductions: tumor biology, pathology, medical oncology, hemato-oncology (day 1)
- Part B: Drug development environment, preclinical, early clinical and late-phase development, post-registration studies (days 2 and 3)
The educational program of day 1 (part A) serves as a stand-alone introduction to oncology, which may be booked separately. It is suitable for everyone who wishes to familiarize himself/herself with the essentials of tumor biology, cancer diagnosis, medical oncology and hematological oncology.
