Shale UK 2014 is a two-day conference, running from 4-5 March 2014, inLondon presenting an authoritative state-of-the-art view of the geoscience relevant to shale gas exploration, production and environmental management in the UK.Why Shale UK 2014?
Organised by Global Event Partners on behalf of the Geological Society, this is a must attend event for companies and professionals interested in pursuing Shale activity in the UK.
Shale UK 2014 is the only shale gas event to be held in conjunction with the Geological Society – the oldest geological society in the world.
The breadth of Geological Society science and their Fellowship will give decision makers and investors eye opening access to domains of knowledge and experience, setting it apart from other Shale events in the UK.UK Shale Rescources
The British Geological Survey (BGS) in association with DECC has completed an estimate for the resource (gas-in-place) of shale gas in part of central Britain in an area between Wrexham and Blackpool in the west, and Nottingham and Scarborough in the east. The estimate is in the form of a range to reflect geological uncertainty. The lower limit of the range is 822 tcf and the upper limit is 2281 tcf, but the central estimate for the resource is 1329 tcf.
Britain could have enough shale gas to heat every home for 1,500 years, according to new estimates that suggest reserves are 200 times greater than experts previously believed. However the technologies needed to explore for shale gas are only recently available in the UK, and mitigating the environmental impacts of stimulation technology and large scale development are subject to local authority consent.
Dan Byles MP recently stated that the UK could be one of the most Shale rich countries on the planet, however we need to understand the resources available before business decisions can be made. The Shale UK 2014 Summit, in conjunction with the Geological Society, will provide this platform.
Shale UK will welcome over 300 participants including government officials, industry representatives, senior business leaders, technical experts and investment executives from the following companies and sectors:
- UK oil & gas operators in the basins
- European oil & gas operators
- US and Canadian E&P majors
- International E&P companies considering UK investment
