The not-for-profit Institute for Sustainable Leadership (ISL) conducts research into sustainable leadership practices for business, government, and nonprofit organizations. Each year its annual conference brings academics and practitioners from around the world together to share learnings in this applied field of leadership.
Papers are invited on topics such as new findings and critical perspectives; applications and case studies; practical challenges in applying sustainable practices and/or changing mindsets and behaviours; research into specific sustainable leadership practices; and the cultural relevance of sustainable leadership. Details about sustainable leadership practices can be found on the Institute's website.
This boutique symposium opens with networking drinks on the Tuesday night and is followed by two days of presentations and exchanges in seminar style. On the final day, delegates are invited to participate in activities outside the conference hotel. Typically, a company visit to meet with local business people is arranged, as well as elaxed cultural experiences in the South of France. Participation in this popular activity is optional and at additional cost.
Papers are double blind reviewed to ensure quality and relevance and published in electronic format (optional). Authors of selected papers are also invited to submit their papers for inclusion in an edited volume of ISL's Fresh Thoughts in Sustainable Leadership.
