Mundus Education Corporation based in Hawaii and Academies Australasia based in Australia will co-host Tourism Educators Forum 2012 in Sydney on 7 December. The nonprofit conference is devoted to education, research, and information in tourism and hospitality, and is held in cooperation by industry-leading entities in tourism, hospitality, aviation, information technology, vocational development, and education. The symposium will explore changing business and training models necessitated by new technologies and recent current events.
The objectives of the forum are to provide an opportunity for tourism educators and trainers to gain new insight about the rapidly changing tourism and hospitality industry, to learn about new training and assessment methods, and to network with their peers. The theme of the 2011 conference is Technology in Hospitality and Tourism.
The forum originated in 1984 in response to demand for the interchange of information, ideas, and technologies among universities, colleges, airlines, and governments involved in tourism education and development. Held annually in Australia and New Zealand since 1990, the conference has become one of the most important events in tourism education in the Pacific region.
Sponsors and supporters of the 2011 forum include Qantas, the Journal of Hospitality and Tourism Technology, Harvey World Travel, and Aussietravelcover, among other organisations.
Dennis Foster, chairman of Mundus Education Corporation and the author of 35 books on computer science, tourism, hotel management, business development, and finance, will address the forum. His research on sustainable tourism was cited by the United Nations Environment Programme. Mundus was established in 1976 and is a leading global provider of technology, training systems, and teaching tools for tourism and hospitality education, research, and development.
