Welcome! The National Council on Public History (NCPH) works to advance the professionalism of public history and to advocate enhanced public and governmental support for historical programs. The NCPH includes museum professionals, government historians, historical consultants and employees in consulting, archivists, professors and students with public history interests, and many others.

Our Publications

The NCPH publishes the quarterly journal The Public Historian in cooperation with the History Department of the University of California at Santa Barbara. We also publish the newsletter Public History News which circulates to all members of NCPH. Subscribe to H-Public, our public history discussion list.

Annual rates in U.S. dollars are $49.00 for individual memberships, $23.00 for students, $85.00 for U.S. institutions, and $105.00 for foreign institutions.

Sponsor status is available at the rate of $200.00, and Patron status at the rate of $400.00. These rates are subject to change at any time. Register for membership online, or contact the NCPH Executive Offices for more information on the Sponsor and Patron membership levels.
