2000 MidWinter Meeting
The 2000 MidWinter Meeting was held on February, 20-24, 2000. A special Short Course, An Introduction to Psychoacoustic Research : Methods and Terminology, was held the day before the meeting on Saturday, February 19, 2000. The Program consisted of 1016 research presentations distributed over 4 symposia, 15 podium sessions, 21 poster sessions, 1 open forum and a workshop. This body of work was conducted by the best scientists in the field from 31 countries. Complete abstracts for the 2000 MidWinter Meeting and previous meetings are available. The 2000 meeting was attended by approximately 1,489 individuals traveling from the United States, Europe and many countries throughout the world. The meeting also included special interest groups and 14 exhibitors.

Please remember to carry two forms of photo identification with you at all times. The airlines recommend that you arrive 1 ½ hours prior to departure for domestic flights and 2 hours prior for international flights. Airports that serve St. Petersburg Beach, Florida Tampa International, the nation's top ranked airport, is located just 30 minutes away from St. Petersburg Beach. It has several airside terminals that are linked by shuttle to a landside terminal, a design that limits walking to a maximum of only five gates. Tampa International Airport serves more than 9.6 million passengers a year on 27 airlines. St. Petersburg/Clearwater Airport is located just 25 minutes from St. Petersburg Beach. It is served by a number of major and regional airlines. The Albert Whitted Municipal Airport is a private airport located 20 minutes away in downtown St. Petersburg. It has a 3200 foot runway, a tie-down service and a hangar for private aircraft. Please remember to carry a photo ID with you at all times. With increased airport security, it is recommended to arrive at the airport two hours prior to international flights and 1-1/2 hours prior to domestic flights. Ground Transportation Surface transportation is available from both the Clearwater/St. Petersburg Airport and the Tampa International Airport. The Limo Connection can provide service for $19 per person one way / $33 per person round trip, depending on the hotel destination. Call ahead for reservations at least six hours prior to flight. Turn right, and the TradeWinds hotel is on the left-hand side of the road, about 1.5 miles north, at the light on 55th Avenue. From Points North take I-75 south and Exit 57 to I-275 South. Exit I-275 South at the Pinellas Bayway (Exit 4) wich will take you across Tampa Bay to St. Petersburg Beach. Proceed west across the Pinellas Bayway ($0.50 toll) that takes you directly to St. Petersburg Beach ending at Gulf Boulevard. Turn right, and the TradeWinds hotel is on the left-hand side of the road, about 1.5 miles north, at the light on 55th Avenue. From Points East take I-4 into Tampa. Sty in the left-hand lane and follow the signs for I-275 South. Exit I-275 South at the Pinellas Bayway (Exit 4) wich will take you across Tampa Bay to St. Petersburg Beach. Proceed west across the Pinellas Bayway ($0.50 toll) that takes you directly to St. Petersburg Beach ending at Gulf Boulevard. From Points South take I-75 North to Exit 44 to I-275. heading into St. Petersburg (not Tampa). Proceed over the Sunshine Skyway Bridge ($1.00 toll). Exit I-275 South at the Pinellas Bayway (Exit 4) wich will take you across Tampa Bay to St. Petersburg Beach. Proceed west across the Pinellas Bayway ($0.50 toll) that takes you directly to St. Petersburg Beach ending at Gulf Boulevard. Meeting Attire The average daytime temperature for the month of February is 70.9 degrees, while the nighttime temperatures drop down to 55 degrees. It is advisable to bring a sweater or jacket to take the chill off the evening temperatures.
