Additional Information

Dear Colleagues, It is a great pleasure and honor for me to invite all of you to the IUAPPA 12th World Clean Air & Environment Congress to be held in Seoul, Korea from August 26 to August 31, 2001. I would like to express my heartfelt appreciation on behalf of all members of IUAPPA for your attendance and participation in this first Congress event in the new millennium. During the past one hundred years, the world has experienced social and technological changes that we have never seen before, and our natural environment has deteriorated so much. The 12th Congress proposes the theme, ¡° Greening the New Millennium ¡±, which is our obligation in the coming century. The problems arising from over-exploitation of environmental resources are no longer limited to localities, but are beginning to surface in the global scale. We hope that the 12th Congress will provide an opportunity to discuss means for solving problems and sharing experiences, to seek innovative approaches, to formulate friendships, and to expedite free flow of environmental knowledge. The members of the Organizing Committee and the Korean Society for Atmospheric Environment (KOSAE) will do the best to supplement further to the successes of previous eleven Congresses. We all know that this Congress is going to be held for the first time in Asia since IUAPPA was founded in 1964. And we hope, this event will be a stepping stone to the greening of Asia and the world, and the new millenium. Besides the technical programmes, the 12th Congress will provide a handful of opportunities to enjoy Asian experiences for you and your companions. These opportunities include many social and cultural activities, shopping, and pre/post-tours. Once again, I would like to extend a warm welcome to you all and am looking forward to meeting you in Seoul in August 2001. Sincerely yours, Won-Hoon Park, Ph.D. Chairman of Organizing Committee, IUAPPA 2001
