Why Should You
Participate?
What is the Managed Care Pharmacy Residency Showcase?
AMCP introduced the Managed Care Pharmacy Residency Showcase in 1998 to help you and post-graduate pharmacists foster new relationships and exchange valuable information about residency programs in managed care.
Who Should Participate?
AMCP welcomes all managed care post-graduate residency or fellowship programs to participate.
Who Will Be There?
AMCP conference attendees comprise pharmacy professionals that manage and evaluate therapies, develop and manage networks, and work with medical managers and information specialists to improve the care of all individuals enrolled in managed care programs. The fall Educational Conference, in particular, attracts the largest concentration of pharmacy students because it fits well within their school-year schedule.
When and Where Is It?
The Managed Care Pharmacy Residency Showcase will be held on Saturday, October 7, 2000, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon at the San Diego Marriott & Marina, and is open to all registered attendees of the AMCP 2000 Educational Conference.
What is the Cost?
There is no charge to participate. However, space fills up quickly so send in your application/contract soon to ensure your participation in this unique annual event. Please carefully review the Rules and Regulations found on page 4.
About Residency Program Accreditation
AMCP and the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) entered a partnership in April 1999 to accredit residency programs in managed care pharmacy. As part of this joint effort, the boards of these two organizations jointly prepared standards for a one-year entry level residency program. The standards are titled “Accreditation Standard and Learning Objectives for Residency Training in Managed Care Pharmacy Practice.” This partnership draws upon the managed care expertise of AMCP’s membership and ASHP’s 30 years of experience in accrediting pharmacy residency programs. The purpose of the new standard is to establish criteria for the training and education of pharmacists in the fundamentals of exemplary contemporary pharmacy practice in managed care. If you would like to know more, a complete text of the accreditation standard and residency learning objectives are available on AMCP’s web site at www.amcp.org or ASHP’s web site at www.ashp.org.
