Welcome to the official website for the American Society of Mechanical Engineer’s 2001 Design Engineering Technical Conferences.
The ASME 2001 Design Engineering Technical Conferences will be hosted by the ASME Design Engineering Division and will be held in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania at the Hilton Pittsburgh and Towers from September 9-12, 2001. The local universities for the conference are The University of Pittsburgh and Carnegie Mellon University.
The general conference consists of several individual conferences that are sponsored by various technical committees within the Design Engineering Division of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers. Those conferences are:

General Conference Information
Submitting a Paper
The general procedure for submitting a paper to the conference are as follows:
Submit paper for review
Submit five (5) hard copies and a soft copy in electronic form of each paper to the individual who is organizing a particular symposium of the respective Technical Conference.
The maximum length of each paper is limited to 10 two-column pages. The title page must include the name, address, telephone number, and email address of the contact author, and the affiliation of all the authors. All papers submitted will be reviewed for presentation and publication in CD-ROM proceedings.
The symposium organizer will acknowledge receipt of the paper by informing the author directly.
The symposium organizer will manage the review process, correspond with the author, and inform the author of the paper’s review/acceptance status.
Submit final paper to ASME
If the paper is accepted, the symposium organizer will send the author an acceptance letter, the paper number, the reviews, a foreign visitor invitation (if necessary), a paper designation form, and further instructions. The ASME copyright form, the templates for formatting the paper, and other information are available at the ASME Author Kit.
After receiving the acceptance letter, the author should review the ASME author’s kit and download the ASME copyright form. After revising the paper according to the reviewers’ suggestions and formatting the paper as specified, submit the final paper to ASME and return the completed paper designation form and the completed copyright form. Note that papers will not be included or published without these two forms.
The symposium organizer will send the author the session list that denotes the session where the paper will appear. The ASME program coordinator will send to the author an advance program, which will show the session schedule and when the session will occur.
Attending the Conference
The ASME 2001 Design Engineering Technical Conferences will be hosted by the ASME Design Engineering Division and will be held in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania at the Hilton Pittsburgh and Towers from September 9-12, 2001. At the conference an author will receive a final program, a printed volume of abstracts, and the CD-ROM with all of the accepted papers.
Conference participants should contact the hotel directly for reservations. Mention that you will be a participant in the conference to obtain the ASME rate.

Land was cleared and bridges were re-built to create Point State Park at the confluence of the Monogahela, Allegheny, and Ohio Rivers.”
