Request for Information A Vital, Growing Organization
In 1975, a handful of nurses involved in a Department of Health and Human Services' research project -- the Nursing Faculty Research Development in the Midwest (NFRDM), planted the seeds that would grow into today's premier nursing research organization -- the Midwest Nursing Research Society (MNRS).

Today, with more than 1,400 members, MNRS has moved to the forefront of promoting, disseminating and utilizing nursing research throughout the Midwest, profoundly influencing the enormous growth in quality and quantity of nursing research for more than 20 years.

Functions of Membership
To support, encourage and improve the quality of nursing research, MNRS members work to:
Promote the conduct of nursing research
Facilitate networking among nurse researchers
Provide mechanisms for dissemination of information regarding research methods and findings relevant to nursing
Foster the utilization of research findings
Encourage socialization and prepare students and new investigators for the role of nurse researcher
Promote the development of resources available to nursing research
Promote the image of nursing as a scientific discipline

Membership Benefits
MNRS offers members a multitude of opportunities to obtain information from top nurse researchers while networking with peers. Specific member benefits include:
The MNRS Annual Conference, the most important conference of the year for nurse researchers
Opportunities to submit abstracts for review for paper, symposia, and poster presentations at the annual conference
Opportunities to participate in MNRS Research Sections
Networking through the annual conference and MNRS Research Sections
MNRS Connections, the Society's informative newsletter
Notification of Society awards and grants
Reduced registration fees for conferences and workshops

Research Section Options
The Society offers membership in a variety of Research Sections. Each section consists of members who share common research interests. Sections meet at the annual conference and at other times of the year to create workshops and synthesis conferences designed to enhance methods and substantive areas of expertise, in addition to discussing the latest research in their respective areas.
Research Section activities are highlighted in each issue of the Society's newsletter, MNRS Connection.

When completing the membership application, please indicate the two sections that best match your interests. The research section number is indicated in red. Membership dues include up to three Research Section Memberships.
