We are pleased to announce the 3rd annual O'Reilly Open Source Convention, July 23-27, 2001, at the waterfront Sheraton Hotel and Marina in San Diego, California. This year's expanded convention includes over 250 sessions in 14 tracks on key open source technologies such as Perl, Apache, XML, Python, PHP, MySQL, Linux, and many more. The convention will attract over 2000 hardcore system administrators, programmers, and Web developers, who join the leaders of the critical open source technologies to learn how to understand, code, and manage these powerful tools. Included in this year's conference are new sessions: The O'Reilly XTech2001 Conference on XML (in association with Graphic Communications Association) is the essential developer-to-developer forum for XML technologies. Speakers are hardcore developers, many of them authors of popular XML books and key open source XML tools. The XTech2001 is composed of two tracks. The first track is Open Source and Open Standards focusing on explaining XML and its related specifications, and the use of open source technology with XML. The second track, Cutting Edge XML, provides a forum for those active in XML development to compare and showcase implementations of XML applications. Cutting Edge XML also includes a late-breaking news section, Bleeding Edge XML, six thirty minute talks finalized only weeks before the conference, in order to cover the very latest software and standards developments O'Reilly Summit on Open Source Strategies--Collocated at this year's Open Source Convention this strategic summit explores the best practices in collaborative software development.
