The American Jordanian Expo (AJEX) brings together businesspeople, leaders and investors from the US, Jordan the Middle East and the rest of the world to highlight the positive developments between Jordan and the US in trade, economic and cultural relations, promote trade and investment between the two countries, and celebrate the achievements that they have jointly accomplished. AJEX will consist of two parallel events: an International Conference on the US-Jordanian Free Trade Agreement (FTA) (September 12 -13th) and an Exhibition of US and Jordanian Products (September 12th -15th).
*To promote trade and investment relations between Jordan and the US.
*To increase local, regional and international awareness of the FTA and of the various benefits it affords investors in Jordan.
*To facilitate and foster the identification of business opportunities for partnerships between Jordanian and US firms.
*To increase overall regional and international awareness of business potential and opportunities in Jordan.
Conference (Sept. 12th –13th):
The theme of the conference for 2001 is the Jordan-US Free Trade Agreement (FTA) and it aims to better inform the local Jordanian-American business community and regional, US and international businesspeople, industrialists and investors of the business and investment opportunities that will result from the implementation of the FTA and the opportunities it creates for US-Jordanian trade relations. The conference will also serve as a forum for awareness, discussion and exchange of valuable information and experiences about how the FTA and the overall investment climate in Jordan benefit the local and international business community.

The Mexican Experience:
*Impact of NAFTA on the Mexican Economy
Influential private and public sector speakers from Jordan, the US, Mexico, the Middle East and elsewhere will address various aspects of the FTA and its impact on Jordanian-US and relations.
Tentative speakers include: Ambassador Charlene Barshefsky, Irving Levine, Bill Marriott, John Sculley, Paul Roemer and others.
Local, regional and international business leaders, investors and government officials interested in learning more about the FTA and eager to capitalize on the potential and opportunity it creates within Jordan and the region.
Exhibition (Sept. 12th –15th):
The exhibition will provide US and Jordanian companies with the opportunity to display and promote their products, services and technologies to other businesses and consumers from the US, Jordan and the region. For the first two days, the exhibition is open exclusively to businesspeople attending the conference to enable participants to network and match make with other businesses and/or regional visitors interested in possibilities of partnership and investment.
The last two days of the exhibition fall on a weekend (Friday and Saturday) and are open to the general public so that companies wishing to sell directly to consumers may do so.
