Description

This is a course in the formal design of experiments. All experiments are designed; some properly and some poorly. Poorly designed experiments waste resources, increase uncertainty, and overlook important insights that a well-designed experiment can detect. Opportunities to use information from this course arise in every field of experimental research. Examples from various “real-world” aerospace studies conducted at NASA Langley Research Center will contrast proper and improper experiment design methods, quantitatively illustrating resource savings, quality improvements, and enhanced insights that well-designed experiments have delivered at NASA Langley. Computer software CD’s included with the course (Design Expert) will be amply demonstrated.
