Description

The 6th International Working Conference on Advanced Visual Interfaces (AVI 2002) will be held in Trento, Italy, May 22-24, 2002. This edition will be the sixth of a series initiated with AVI'92 in Rome, and continued with AVI'94 in Bari, AVI'96 in Gubbio, AVI'98 in L'Aquila and AVI 2000 in Palermo. The Conference has the aim of bringing together experts in different areas of computer science who have a common interest in the conception, design, implementation, and evaluation of visual interfaces. Both formal methods and concrete applications well fit into the framework of this working conference. As in previous editions, we will focus on information visualization, graphical and pictorial communication tools, virtual reality applications, multimedia environments, WWW interfaces, visual languages, visual database systems, adaptive interfaces, cognitive science, and metaphor analysis. Furthermore, with an eye to the requirements and constraints of new class of computers (such as digital assistants, palmtops and mobile phones), we open to perceptual interfaces, not limited to the use of visual techniques, which appear to many scientists the appropriate solution to the design of dedicated interfaces, otimized for a given hardware and/or specific applications. As in the previous editions, the program will comprise invited talks, given by leaders in the field, including: Aaron Marcus (Aaron Marcus and Associates, Inc. (AM+A), Jef Raskin, Davi Redmiles (University of California, Irvine)
