| Description |
The National Cardiovascular Health Conference (CVH 2002) will be the key cardiovascular health conference of the new millenium. The conference will address the cardiovascular challenges set forth in Healthy People 2010 as well as the overarching goals of increasing the quality and years of life and of eliminating health disparitites among different segments of the population, including differences that occur by gender, race or ethnicity, education or income, disability, geographic location, or sexual orientation. With a focus on disease prevention and treatment, the conference will demonstrate how a multitiered approach to prevention, community education, and innovative treatment can positively influence cardiovascular health. The conference program will enable health professionals to implement practices designed to significantly reduce cardiovascular disease in all communities by the year 2010.
CVH 2002 targets a variety of health professionals who want to be at the forefront of meeting the challenges of Healthy People 2010 including: Family Practitioners; Cardiologists; Public Health Professionals; Health Researchers; Health Educators; Community Health Specialists; Internists; Dietitians; Nutritionists; Nurses; Quality Improvement Specialists; Physician Assistants; Managed Care Directors; Emergency Medical Care Providers; and Pharmacists.
The conference is cosponsored by the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute, Department of Health and Human Services Office of Disease Prevention and Health Promotion, American Heart Association, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, and the Health Resources and Services Administration.
