Venue and Location: LFNM’2002 will be held at the V.Karazin Kharkov National University, where all conference facilities are available. Kharkov city is the second largest in Ukraine with the population of about 2 mln, located in the North-East of the country. It has numerous scientific and engineering community and lasting educational traditions. Transportation Connections: twice a week, Kharkov can be reached by the direct flight by Austrian Airlines from Vienna. Many international connections are available to Kiev, with daily flights from Amsterdam, Budapest, Frankfurt, Istanbul, London, Paris, Prague, Tel Aviv, Vienna, and Zurich.
Information on the previous LFNM meetings can be found in the LEOS Newsletters Magazine: Aug/1999, Aug/2000, Aug/2001. The third workshop LFNM’2001 was hold at KhNURE on May 23-25, 2001. The Workshop program included 4 invited lectures, 66 oral and poster presentations which were presented in 3 sections: "Photonics", "Lasers and resonators" and "Optical fields and systems". Reports were represented in the field of nonlinear effects, gas and chemical lasers, laser materials, laser beam and method for their transformation and control, spectrum and diffraction in optical medium; methods of high speed data transmission through optical networks. The Workshop Proceedings has received the rights of the IEEE publication and will be distributed under the IEEE TAB program.
The LFNM'2002 workshop program will accommodate invited, oral and poster presentation on the following topics:
· Modelling physical processes in lasers, including semiconductor, solid-state, gas ones;
· Nonlinear effects in active and passive optical devices and systems;
· Broad-band optical networks;
· Dispersive mediums and optical beam propagation in the optical waveguides and optical greetings;
· New coherent optical source for systems of transmission, storage and analysis of information.
All contributions on the any aspects of this field are welcome.
The deadline for submission of 150-200 words English-written abstract indicating address, fax number and e-mail address for rapid communication is Feb. 1, 2002, for the 3-page camera-ready paper is April 1, 2002. Manuscript of accepted contribution are expected to be realized for publication in the special issue of All-Ukraine Scient. Int. Dep. Magazine "Radiotekhika".
The registration fee for participants from NIS countries is not supposed. Visa invitation letters will be sent together with the acceptance notifications.
