The course presents modern terminology and techniques of CFD Validation and Verification, and related topics. This subject is of paramount importance as modeling credibility becomes more important, and high quality, dependable solutions with rational error bands are demanded by contractual agreements, regulatory agencies, and archive journals. The techniques presented are applicable to solutions obtained with both commercial codes and scientific & engineering codes developed in-house. The distinctions between Verification and Validation, and between Verification of codes and Verification of individual calculations, are addressed. Useable formulas, practical guidance, and defensible techniques are emphasized, and many CFD case studies are presented.
