This year's conference features keynote
presentations by Daniel Goleman, Psychologist,
Journalist and Author of Emotional Intelligence,
and Christopher Dede, Timothy E. Wirth Professor
of Learning Technologies at the Harvard Graduate
School of Education.

CONFERENCE OVERVIEW

This is the thirteenth year of a highly
successful international conference on
creativity in higher education learning.
Emphasis is on research and practice in
teaching and learning--with focus on uses of
innovative learning strategies and advanced
technologies in online learning and the face-
to-face classroom. The result is an exciting
conference which has brought increased
participation from college and university
faculty and academic administrators. This
year's conference is expected to provide 300 or
more presentations to 1,000 faculty attendees
in all academic fields throughout the world.

The conference continues the previous emphasis
on innovative teaching, learning, and technology
through both featured speakers and paper
presentations. It once again includes poster
sessions and an international, live
videoconference and vendor displays. Awards
will again be presented to faculty nominated
by their institutions for highly innovative
contributions to teaching, learning and
technology. The conference will again sponsor
the Ernest L. Boyer International Award for
Excellence in Teaching, Learning and Technology.
Selection will be made by an international
faculty panel; the recipient will receive a
$5,000 cash award contributed by Blackboard,
Inc.

CONFERENCE DATES AND PLACE

The conference will be held April 9-13, 2002,
at the Adam's Mark Hotel on the north bank of
the St. John's River in downtown Jacksonville,
Florida. Within walking distance is the

Jacksonville Landing, home to shopping,
entertainment, seafood, and multi-ethnic
riverside cafes and restaurants, the River
Walk, providing the gateway to a number of
excellent restaurants, shops, and museums--
including opportunities for alfresco dining
with a magnificent view of the city skyline.
The Jacksonville River Walk is accessible on
the south bank via water taxi. Atlantic
beaches, some of the nation's finest golf
courses and the country's oldest city, St.
Augustine, are all within a half-hour drive.

AWARDS FOR INNOVATIVE EXCELLENCE

Each College or University is eligible to
nominate one full-time teaching faculty member
who has contributed in the most highly creative
ways to teaching, learning and technology.
Colleges and universities select their
candidate based on an institution-wide search,
using their own criteria. Previous award
winners are not eligible.

THE ERNEST L. BOYER INTERNATIONAL AWARD FOR
EXCELLENCE IN TEACHING, LEARNING AND TECHNOLOGY

Each institution may elect to have its
candidate for the Award for Innovative
Excellence in Teaching, Learning and
Technology considered for the Boyer
International Award. An international committee
will select the recipient. The awardee will be
honored at the awards ceremony held during the
conference. He or she will receive a trophy and
a $5,000 cash award contributed by Blackboard,
Inc. In addition, the recipient of the award
will also receive a special engraved plaque as
well as an opportunity to participate as a
member of the international committee to select
future recipients of the Award.

CALL FOR PAPERS

The Thirteenth International Conference on
College Teaching and Learning seeks proposals
dealing with successful practices and research
to improve higher education learning. Of
special interest are papers and poster sessions
dealing with the theme of the conference--
Thinking Outside the Box... No Boundaries... No
Limits. Most importantly, however, the
conference seeks papers and poster sessions
that combine innovative learning strategies,
such as interactive and cooperative learning,
with uses of the Web and advanced technologies.
All proposals must be submitted electronically,
either via the Web or e-mail and will be
subject to peer review.
