HFES annual meetings, held each fall, offer information and networking opportunities for any professional working or interested in human factors/ergonomics, the science of making systems, tools, products, and environments safe and effective for the people who use them. In 100 parallel sessions, HF/E professionals present their work in the following areas: aging, aerospace systems, cognitive engineering and decision making, communications, computer systems, consumer products, environmental design, educational environments and processes, Internet, individual differences in performance, industrial ergonomics, medical systems and rehabilitation, safety, perception and performance, system development, surface transportation, and virtual environments.
Also included is a two-day exhibit show featuring more than 40 product and service providers. The HFES Placement Service operates during the week to help job candidates find employment; employers conduct on-site interviews (go to http://hfes.org for details about listing a job; candidates can post resumes free.)
HFES honors its newly elected Fellows and awards recipients at a formal banquet on Wednesday evening. Other events include premeeting tours, tours of technical facilities in the local area, and technical group meetings and receptions.
