It is a great honour to organize the 7th International Symposium on Thrombolysis and Acute Stroke Therapy to be held in Lyon from May 27 to May 29 2002.
Lyon, the religious capital of France since the Roman Empire and second biggest city in the country, has gained a worldwide reputation in industry, science and tourism. A kind of classical city of the Renaissance like Florence and Venice, Lyon has added gastronomy to its landmarks and is considered as the world capital of fine "cuisine". Recently, the G7 summit also made Lyon a political capital.
In neurology, Devic's disease, Beriel's "psychic pillow sign" and Froment's "frozen wrist" (both in parkinsonian syndromes) have been described in Lyon. Recently , Lyon has established structures to achieve acute neurovacular therapy.
A proverb from Lyon says : "at work, you do what you can, but in front of a table you force yourself". The organizing committee will do its very best to provide the participants with a fruitful scientific program, and will organize an outstanding social program, including gastronomy.
