Description

CCC 2003 - Composite in Construction international Conference

UNIVERSITY OF CALABRIA
Faculty of Engineering - Department of Structural Engineering
Rende (CS) - Italy

Dear Colleague,after the first and successful edition of the Composite in Costruction international Conference (CCC) organized in Porto, the second one will be held at the University of Calabria, Faculty of Engineering, Department of Structural Eng.ng.Sessions will start Tuesday September 16 and finish Friday September 19, 2003.Composite materials and structures represent one of the last innovations in Construction areas. In particular the combination of composite materials with traditional construction materials (concrete, steel and masonry) provides new and attractive solutions for structural strenghtening and rehabilitation, but contemporaneosly representing a challenge for researchers and designers. Moreover, the enormous potential for the use of fibre composites in Construction, it is essential to motivate and inform both the technical and developer communities. At the present a large number of researchers and research centers are working both on the basic than on applied research areas connected to composite materials and structures. Many results are already available but further developments are still required on various aspects in the use of composite materials and structures in construction. Thus the Conference wants to foster a better understanding of construction materials, providing a forum for unusual and unconventional materials, encourage the development of low cost energy saving materials and cooperate to bridge the gap between materials science, engineering performance, enviromental effects, in situ behaviour, design/service life and construction.Original contributions dealing with microstructure, material properties, testing and test methods, fracture and damage mechanics, durability aspects, structural characteristics, composite mechanics/technology, modelling, design fabrication and practical applications of these materials will therefore form the major themes of the Conference. Contributions dealing with structural behaviour, in situ performance and field studies will also be accepted as well as those dealing with implications of energy conservation, thermal insulation, repair and maintenance costs and serviceability behaviour of structures made with these materials. Interested Authors should submit abstracts of two page length, within June 30, 2002 to: Prof. Raffaele Zinno, University of Calabria, Faculty of Engineering, Department of Structural Engineering, Arcavacata di Rende (CS), 87030, Italy, preferably by e-mail to the following address: zinno@unical.it or by fax +39-0984-494045, choosing one of the suggested symposium subject category:
Developments in composite materials;
Damage "mechanics", fatigue and fracture;
Non-destructive testing and evaluation of damage;
Innovations in design concepts and practical applications;
Field Performance;
Structural Health monitoring;
Innovative uses of composite materials with traditional construction materials;
Rehabilitation and Strengthening;
Design of Joints in Composites;
Mathematical Modeling;
Smart Composite materials and structures;

As soon as possible, the Organizing Committee will inform you about the fees. We look forward to work with you to make the CCC 2003 a fruitful and successful event.

Best regards
