Description
The Nuclear and Future Flight Propulsion Course includes five lectures on different topics in advanced space propulsion. An overview is provided on the wide breadth of advanced concepts, from the beginning of the early 20th Century to the next several hundred years, with technologies ranging from fission, fusion, antimatter, high energy density chemical propellants, in-situ resource utilization, etc. The remaining four lectures focus on high energy density propellants, the history of nuclear thermal propulsion ground testing programs, future applications of nuclear thermal propulsion, and the potential of nuclear electric propulsion and nuclear thermal hybrids for missions throughout the solar system.
