1. Ecological condition and quality of the urban environment and the adjacent territories.
2. Impacts of major cities and industrial zones on climate.
3. Impact of major cities and industrial zones on neighbouring water areas and river network.
4. Ecological risks diagnostics, estimation and processes of management.
5. Problems and features of ecological monitoring organization in cities and industrial zones.
6. The environment of urban territories and health.
7. Instrumentation and methodological support of pollution monitoring in large cities and industrial zones.
8. Education and personnel training for solving environmental problems
WORKING LANGUAGES
Working languages of the conference are English and Russian. Simultaneous translation will be provided.
REPORTS TO THE CONFERENCE
It is planned to publish the abstracts of the reports before the Conference starts its work, and to publish the reports in Russian and English after completion of the Conference. The content of the reports should correspond to the topics of the Conference. The abstracts should contain the key points of the report. The abstracts of the reports are to be submitted in English in the form ready for publication. The size of the abstract is one A4 page of the text. The abstracts should be submitted in the electronic form as a Microsoft Word 97 file, printed in size 12 Times New Roman font. Spacing between lines must be 1.5. The page margins should be: the top and right-hand ones, 2 cm wide, the bottom and left-hand ones, 2.5 cm. The initials and surnames of the authors should be typed in italics on the first line; the title, in upper case letters, on the next line; below, in italics, the name of the organization, city, and country. The text should not include pictures and formulas. Please state in your pre-registration form, which of the topic / topics of the Conference your report can be attributed to. The abstract must be submitted by mail, Internet or E-mail not later than June 1, 2002.
REGISTRATION FEE
The organization fees will be, approximately, as follows: for participation in the conference, $100; for publication of the abstracts, without participation in the Conference, $10 (once paid for, all the published materials will be sent to the participant’s address).
The fee covers the costs of providing services to the participant, the facilities office equipment rent, publication of information materials. The fees, with the exception of the charges for the abstracts publication, may be accepted during registration. On receiving your request, the Organizing Committee, can reserve accommodation in the hotels of St. Petersburg. Accommodation in hotel-type hostels is available. We ask you to send the accommodation requests in good time. In case of receiving additional financial support from foundations and sponsors, the Organizing Committee reserves the right to alter the fee. Meals will be available in the University’s canteen.
Hotel Accommodations
In accord with your request, the Organizing Committee can reserve accommodation in the hotels of St. Petersburg.
