The History Workshop at Wits is reviving its tradition of an annual History Teachers’ Workshop. We’re going to start by tackling the Teaching of Apartheid, with a particular focus on the 1950s Prof Nigel Worden (form the University of Cape Town) will give a talk on the origins of Apartheid followed by a presentation of different perspectives of Sophiatown and Prof Philip Bonner (from the Wits History Department and Head of History Workshop) will give a tour of the relevant section of the new Apartheid Museum. In the afternoon we will facilitate a workshop on materials for teaching this period of Apartheid.

The workshop will take place on Saturday the 20th of July 2002 at the Apartheid Museum, Gold Reef City, Johannesburg. There will be a registration fee of R 80 this will cover the cost of tea & coffee, lunch, a cocktail party and reading packs.
