The 3rd Canadian Conference on Geotechnique and Natural Hazards will be held at Sheraton Hotel in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada on June 8 to 10, 2003. It follows the successful conferences in Vancouver in 1992 and Montreal in 2000, and will highlight recent advances in geohazard risk assessment and mitigation in Canada. A collection of keynote speakers, papers, and poster presentations will be incorporated into a two-day, single session conference. The deadline for submitting abstracts is September 30, 2002.

The 3rd Canadian Conference on Geotechnique and Natural Hazards, which follows the successful conferences in Vancouver in 1992 and Montreal in 2000, will highlight recent advances in geohazard risk assessment and mitigation in Canada. A collection of keynote speakers, papers, and poster presentations will be incorporated into a two-day, single session conference. An underlying purpose of the conference is to promote discussion between the various geoscience disciplines practicing in the field of natural hazards in Canada. Suggested topic areas for the conference include: Slope Movements Snow Avalanches Seismic Hazards Floods and Natural Dams Emerging Hazards Risk Reduction and Hazard Mitigation Authors submitting abstracts should indicate their preference for an oral or poster presentation. However, since there is a limit to the number of oral papers that can be accepted, some abstracts submitted for oral papers may be accepted as posters. Abstract deadline is September 30, 2002, and authors will be informed of abstract acceptance by November 15, 2002. The authors of papers accepted for oral presentation are required to submit a manuscript (up to 8 pages long) for publication in the conference proceedings. Papers must be accepted by the Technical Committee for publication in the conference proceedings. These manuscripts as well as author conference registration must be received by February 15, 2003.
