ICE2003 promotes balanced contributions from industry and research. The conference is the major forum to enable practitioners, researchers as well as tool vendors to present, demonstrate and share the results and achievements of their work in the broad domain of Concurrent Enterprising.

ICE2003 will:
  • 1. provide insight into the structure and behaviour of the Concurrent Enterprise

  • 2. demonstrate how mobile technologies can change engineering work practices

  • 3. show how effective human resources and knowledge management influence the efficiency of a Concurrent Enterprise

  • 4. give insight into managing the new business environment and making the transition from a traditional organisation to a Concurrent Enterprise

  • 5. provide a means for enhanced collaboration between European, national and regional R&D activities

  • 6. reinforce an exchange of experiences between academia and industry

The term Concurrent Enterprising is an amalgam which brings together the paradigms of Concurrent Engineering and Extended/Virtual Enterprising: The Concurrent Enterprise is a distributed, temporary alliance of independent, co-operating manufacturers, customers and suppliers using systematic approaches, methods and advanced technologies for increasing efficiency in the design and manufac turing of products and services by means of parallelity, integration, standardisation, team work and more for achieving common goals on global markets.
