"Old" GPS receivers and software were expensive and difficult to use. People that could make good use of GPS couldn't afford the equipment or devote the necessary time to learn the operating system. All that has changed now that Selective Availability, the induced error, has been removed. What once were "recreational" receivers and software are the "new" GPS that can now be used in professional work at a cost of less than $250. Participants in this course will use GPS receivers and software to collect data, navigate, prepare maps, and other activities commonly performed by professionals.
