In its ninth year, the Cost Management for Clinical Trials conference is designed to provide pharmaceutical and biotech professionals with the latest information on how to control the high costs of clinical trials under the constraints of limited budgets and short timeframes. On Day One we present two pre-conference workshops. Our first pre-conference workshop is Seamlessly Coordinating Information from Multiple Sources for High Quality, Efficient Global Clinical Development. Facilitated by Charles Laudadio, MD, MBA of JCM Management and Planning Company, this first workshop offering addresses developing novel methods for keeping costs of clinical trials manageable while retaining speed and quality. Our second pre-conference workshop is Cost Management Strategies and Mechanics: A Dynamic Look at Contracts, Budgets and Vendor Management facilitated by Dennis J. LaCroix, Esq. of Genzyme Corporation.

Day Two kicks off the main conference where we provide attendees with the tools to conduct more trials with larger scope in shorter time frame with limited budgets. The ability to be able to have faster initiation of clinical trials, more patients per trial, more sites and investigators– all in an effort to lower costs—is more challenging than ever, so our speaking faculty has been specially selected based on their cost management successes. The first day of the main conference, September 26, 2002 features presentations from Centerwatch, Abbott Laboratories, Congressional Pharmaceuticals, TAP Pharmaceutical, Duke Clinical Research Institute, Wyeth, Monitorforhire, Pharmamediation and Centocor and covers topics including:

Improving contracts, budgets and the grant process
Remembering patient recruitment costs
Choosing a cost model for successful study outcomes
A case study of how a company developed a cost model to asses the cost value of clinical trials
Cost-Saving management strategies for reducing costs of clinical research
Understanding basic financial analysis to help the sponsor determine risk levels before contracting with a provider
Utilizing a web-based platform for resource management to manage clinical trials
Day Three of the conference features presentations from UCB Pharma, Amgen, Eli Lilly, Novartis, William and Blair, Purdue and ISIS Pharmaceuticals and covers topics including:

Developing and refining a external planning process-case study
Improving clinical trial cost effectiveness by intra and inter program outsourcing
An interactive dialogue on phase specific pricing and contract strategies
A case study in integrating your vendor systems to maximum efficiency
