It is our pleasure to invite you to the Fifth
International Symposium on Tools and Methods of
Competitive Engineering, TMCE 2004. This event
will present a thorough survey on the
state-of-the-art of the methodologies and
technologies of competitive engineering. The main
focus of the TMCE 2004 Symposium will be on
engineering methodologies and technologies for
the competitive life cycle engineering of extended
products, from the early concepts, to service and
EOL strategies and practices, through concurrent
design and manufacturing. The trends in all kinds
of extended product related activities, such as
globalization of markets and e-business and
e-supply, preliminary design, concurrent and collaborative engineering, e-engineering, virtual and physical
product modeling, e-procurement, e-manufacturing and the digital factory, human interfaces, environmental
impact, and social issues. The TMCE 2004 Symposium will be held at the Swiss Federal Institute of
Technology, Lausanne, Switzerland. It is targeted at participants who are engineers, engineering managers,
engineering IT managers, quality and process engineers, engineering IT suppliers and vendors, academic
researchers, technology transfer centers and industrial associations.
