Baltic Conventions, the specialist conference and exhibition organiser, has organised successful world-class conferences since 1987 and in South Africa since 1994 under the TransAfrica, World Waterfront and Foodtrans brands. Past conference themes include road, rail and sea transportation, port operations, waterfront development and the transport of specialised cargoes such as produce. Past locations include Durban, Cape Town and Johannesburg.

The planned conferences for 2000 and 2001 were postponed for economic and security reasons, but a return to Durban is planned for December 2002 at the renowned International Convention Centre.

foodtrans is a specialist business conference focusing on the transportation of perishable and specialised cargoes such as produce and beverages, where the normally demanding supply chain imperatives become super important, often influencing quality, price and even access to markets. South Africa is an important location for this increasingly important industry.

There are numerous conferences addressing parts of this specialised global supply chain but foodtrans is believed to be the only conference which addresses all the issues from production through transportation to the consumer from an international perspective.

The two-day programme outline covers production, processing, storage, transportation - whether road, rail, sea or air - port operations, and systems for both exporters and importers. Whilst the main thrust will be B2B (business to business), there is also a B2G (business to Government) dialogue concerning systems, processing of documentation, standards and quotas and governments from exporting and importing countries have been invited to make their contribution to the debate.

Who should attend the conference?;-

·Food, produce and beverage producers.
·Transport, storage, port, shipping and supply chain specialists.
·Import and export companies.
·Food & beverage retailers and wholesalers.
·Producer organisations, government officers and those engaged in developing standards.

Full details will appear on the secure website www.baltic-conventions.com which can also accept delegate registrations in Sterling, US dollars and Euros.

Co-located with the foodtrans conference is a dedicated exhibition area providing a showcase for companies wishing to demonstrate goods or services to the targeted audience of senior decision makers attending the conference.
