The European Commission's drive to generate competition on European rail networks was supplemented in January of this year by the Second Railway Package. Indeed, the imminent adoption by the EC of programme Marco Polo to support innovative inter-modal projects, is indicative of on-going reform. Such immense change requires significant cross-border co-operation and debate to secure sustainable growth and competitiveness in this flourishing industry. As such this conference will provide a timely forum to discuss new opportunities on a truly pan-European platform.

The conference programme reflects the dynamic and increasingly commercial nature of the sector. It addresses future business opportunities in the industry and focuses on issues such as operational efficiency, competitive advantage, profitability and customer–centricity. It is therefore an invaluable chance to here from the leading industry figures including:

 Jean-Pierre Duport, President, RFF, France
 Karel Vinck, Chief Executive Officer, SNCB, Belgium
 Antoine Hurel, Chief Executive Officer, Connex, Europe
 Luigi de Pierris, Chief Executive, PPP Unit, Ministry of Economy, Italy
 Jens Andersen, Director General, Danish National Railway Agency, Denmark
 Dagmar Haase, Member of the Management Board, DB Netz, Germany
 James Evans, Secretary General, European Rail Infrastructure Managers, Europe
 Dr Wolfgang Scharinger, Head of Rail Cargo Austria, Ă–BB, Austria
 Tom Winsor, Rail Regulator, UK
