The symposium is the 8th in a series of biennial international meetings.
The first symposium was held in Sheffield (United Kingdom) 1989,
followed by St.-Pierre de Chartreuse (France) 1991, Peniscola (Spain)
1993, Cetraro (Italy) 1995, Neuch√Ętel (Switzerland) 1997,
Rotenburg-an-der-Fulda (Germany) 1999, and Tateshina Highlands
(Japan) 2001.

The symposium is intended to bring together scientists and students of
inorganic, coordination, organic, metal-organic and physical chemistry,
as well as physicists and biologists to present and discuss their recent
and advanced developments in the area of metal-containing liquid
crystals (metallomesogens). The program will cover the synthesis and
mesophase behaviour of novel metallomesogens, and study of their
physical properties. A characteristic and traditional nature of this
symposium is that all participants stay together in a conference site for
better discussions, as well as for better friendship in an international

Main Topics

Synthesis and Characterization of New Materials

Structural Characterization (XRD, EXAFS, ...)

Optical, Magnetic, Dielectric, and other Properties

Lyotropic, Colloid, Membrane, and Biological Systems

Possible Applications

Those involved or interested in the extensive field of metallomesogens
are invited to take part in the symposium and to contribute their recent
and most exciting R&D results. The contributions will consist of invited
lectures, oral presentations and posters.
