| Description |
Jordanian-US trade has grown at a phenomenal rate since the implementation of the Jordan-US Free Trade Agreement (FTA) in September 2001, a dramatic 75% percent rise in the first ten months of 2002 compared to last year, a 15% hike in imports, and the momentum continues at a growing pace.
JABA, the American Chamber of Commerce in Jordan, will build on the exciting business opportunities that exist between Jordan and the US by hosting the second American Jordanian Expo (AJEX) conference and exhibition in Amman, Jordan on March 26-28, 2003. The event will highlight two-way trade for the benefit of Jordanian, American and international exporters, importers, service providers and investors, present exclusive opportunities in Jordan, and showcase success stories and case studies of Jordanian, US and international companies already operating in the country.
The two-day conference will span several sessions covering both sides of the equation of trade and investment between Jordan and the US. The first day will cover opportunities in Jordan presented by Jordan-US bilateral agreements, including the FTA, Qualifying Industrial Zone (QIZ) and other key elements for doing business in the country such as the Aqaba Special Economic Zone (ASEZ) and investment-friendly laws and regulations. The second will highlight all aspects related to accessing the US market and doing business with American companies, including marketing, distribution, sales and regulatory issues. During the two days of the event, you will also have the opportunity to listen to case-studies and success stories of Jordanian, regional and international companies who are currently using Jordan as a successful gateway to the US market.
High-level speakers from the US, Jordan and the region will highlight the unique business benefits of trade between Jordan and the United States, building awareness on the opportunities within the country present for both local and international businesses. You will have the opportunity to listen to marketing and distribution experts and CEOs of major US companies present their experience and expectations from doing business with Jordan. You will also have the opportunity to learn about the experiences of Jordanian, US and international businesspeople who have already tapped into the opportunity, contributing to the tremendous growth in trade that has already materialized.
AJEX 2003 will attract over 500 participants from all over the globe, including leading international, regional and local business people, representatives of the Jordanian and US governments and business support organization as well as members of the media making AJEX an ideal venue for networking and developing business links.
The exhibition will include over 50 organizations including: importers of US products, US franchisees, producers and exporters of Jordanian products, companies operating at QIZs, US technology companies, US State offices, regional American Chambers of Commerce (AmChams), Jordanian Business Associations and Government organizations. JABA will also be incorporating the American Computer Show, traditionally organized by the US Embassy in Jordan, into the exhibition within a specialized pavilion.
