The Seminar participants include executives from a broad range of private businesses; government managers from the state, federal, and international agencies; and representatives from nongovernmental organizations. A small class of 16-22 individuals is assembled each year to enable the depth of exchange needed to advance ideas and invent solutions.

A combination of lectures, panel discussions, case studies, field trips, simulations and other problem-solving exercises provide an essential knowledge base for people who directly influence the environmental impact of industrial and economic activities.

The objectives are"
