Each year CiCe holds an international conference around a specific theme and welcomes delegates from both within and outside the network. In 2003 our conference will be held at the Universidade do Minho in Braga, a historic city some 35km. north of Oporto in Portugal. The dates are 8-10 May, and the theme will be A EUROPE OF MANY CULTURES: the sub-themes on which papers are invited papers are
· Culture and citizenship education in Europe
· Cross-professional issues and human rights education
· Equal opportunities
· Multi-lingual and multi-cultural perspectives and contexts.
Speakers at the opening plenary session will include
· Professor Roberto Carneiro, currently President of the Study Centre on Peoples and Cultures at the Universidade Católica Portuguesa and a former Portuguese Minister for Education, and
· Professor Márta Fülöp of Szegedi Tudományegyetem and Szechenyi Professor of Social Psychology at The Institute for Psychology, Hungarian Academy of Sciences.

The Conference registration fee is 260 euros. This includes pre-Conference documentation and a copy of the edited Conference Proceedings (which may be produced in book or CD-ROM form) later in 2003; the costs of lunches on Friday and Saturday, the Reception on Thursday evening and the Conference Dinner on Saturday evening. The registration fee also includes access for registered delegates who are not members of CiCe to the restricted area of the CiCe website containing the full texts of the Conference papers. Access will be available from mid-April until the Conference.
There are direct scheduled flights into Oporto from many European cities (e.g. Amsterdam, Barcelona, Basle, Bilbao, Brussels, Frankfurt, Geneva, Lisbon, London, Luxembourg, Lyon, Madrid, Manchester, Marseilles, Milan, Nice, Paris, Stuttgart and Zurich) and there will be a shuttle bus service operating between Oporto Airport and Braga for delegates, the cost of which is included in the conference fee.
