| Description |
This international conference to be held in Birmingham, Alabama at the Birmingham Jefferson Convention Center will bring together individuals interested in sharing ideas and practices designed by quality teacher education programs for the preparation of teachers and administrators. For two days, participants will be provided with exceptional learning experiences taht will enhance their knowledge of the issues, pedagogies and asessment involved in preparing exemplary educators for the future. The conference is designed to meet the unique needs of educators and administrators involved in teacher education programs and P-12 schools, including university presidents, deans, department chairs and faculty; legislators; P-12 administrators and faculty. The conference is organized around five major tracks: Improving pedagogy; Responding to standards; Making your case; Preparing leaders; and Preparing future teachers to impact student achievement. In addition to the five major tracks, the winners of the U.S. Department of Education's first national award for effective teacher preparation, Alverno College, East Carolina University, Fordham University and Samford University, will highlight the steps they have taken to ensure their graduates make a difference in P-12 student achievement. Whether you are a novice educator or experienced professional, whether you represent a public or private organization, or if you work in other related areas, you will benefit personally and professionally form this major educational event.

Before 9/6/02, the cost for the preconference workshops and the conference are respectively $50 and $300. After 9/6/02, the cost for both will be $65 and $350 respectively.
