Please join us for a unique opportunity to learn about, compare and contrast the cultural, geographic and governmental foundations of sports, recreation and youth programs of the United States and Finland.
THREE DAYS OF LEARNING
Through small group activity and interactive panel discussion, you'll begin to identify the key skills and behaviors your organization must have to build successful programs that respond to current and future trends and needs. You will learn how to assess and improve benchmark programs through the use of multiple frameworks and renew creativity, enthusiasm and long-term commitment to health and recreational pursuits. There will also be lectures from U.S. and Finnish representatives who have led successful initiatives at local and national levels.
DAY ONE: HOLISTIC SYSTEMS PERSPECTIVE
Engage in small group activities that will provide an opportunity for representatives of the two cultures to participate in a dynamic information exchange and collaborative visioning process.
DAY TWO: PASSION, DEDICATION AND STRIVING FOR EXCELLENCE
Become familiar with quality assurance measures used to strive for excellence and measuring program outcomes. Discover the variety of assessment and outcome measures which impact youth, sports and recreation programs
DAY THREE: CREATIVE, EXPERIENTIAL LEARNING
In the spirit of learning, you will have an opportunity to visit several programs and engage in dynamic, interactive learning at sites throughout Boston and surrounding areas. Observing and speaking with the directors, staff and youth who make these programs successful will highlight the impact of larger systems, funding and legislation on day-to-day operations.
