| Description |
Efforts to discover and develop safer and more effective therapies for rheumatoid arthritis(RA) and other inflammatory diseases are based on our improved understanding of the many inflammatory mediators that contribute to the pathogenesis of the disease. The possible clinical benefits of combining TNF and IL-1 modulators is awaited with interest. Several small molecules to modifying these inflammatory mediators and additional cytokines and chemokines are also under intensive investigation. These approaches compliment the current non-steroidals such as the COX-2 inhibitors as well as the DMARDS that continue to receive clinical attention. This symposium will review many of these programs intended to generate next generation anti-inflammatory drugs.
