Description Uncertainties abound in the aviation community even as new technologies emerge. Scientists, engineers, managers, and operators alike face constant challenges in product design, engineering and manufacturing, information management, and implementation processes. These challenges hinder the progress of what will be a global marketplace.

Unfortunately, the removal of barriers to growth in aviation is not a straightforward technical problem, but one that is beset by societal, environmental, and economic effects, all of which must be carefully balanced and considered. A systems approach is required to make progress in understanding and reacting to the challenges posed by the growth of aviation worldwide.

Take this unparalleled opportunity to influence the future state of technology applications and operations; to address universal challenges in product design, engineering, and manufacturing as well as information management and implementation processes; to contribute your aviation expertise to this exciting, ground-breaking forum.

Conference participants will be able to select from over 30 technical sessions and panels that form the nucleus of this year’s program. In keeping with the overall theme of the ATIO 2002 technical forum “The 2nd Century of Aviation, a Bold New Era,” ten technical committees, NASA, MITRE Corporation, and ICAS have collaborated to provide the best technical, economical, and business solutions to the ensuing challenges. Two distinct program tracks: 1) the aviation infrastructure and 2) innovative designs, concepts, and methodologies have been designed to impart the following qualities:
- Technical solutions to operational challenges and barriers (airport operations);
- Current and conceptual methods in aircraft design and engineering;
- Current and conceptual methods utilized in system and sub-system design and applications;
- Quantitative relationships among infrastructure, economics, and the effectiveness of the aviation transportation system;
- Exploration of current advances, techniques and methodologies that study these relationships;
- Report on approaches taken to overcome these barriers to aviation system growth;
- Economic and societal implications of technical solutions, with a view to making the business case for investment in aviation infrastructure; and
- Substantive solutions that will enhance “Safety and Security” as they relate to operational, design and systematic applications.

ATIO is Collocated with Aviation Week's 1-3 October Aerospace Expo
Aerospace Expo is an intensive conference for working professionals in the manufacturing, engineering, design and purchasing industry. It’s the one event to bring all aspects of aerospace management under one roof, featuring a world-class exhibit hall and two management-level conferences.
