| Description |
This timely conference will examine the recent developments in research policy and funding and the opportunities and challenges these will present for Universities and Industry in the future. It will explore the inter-relationships between the international, national and regional research arenas and the impact this will have on research in the longer term.
International Perspective
· The development of the European Research Area and how this links to and affects the Framework Programme and the national research programmes of member states
National Perspective
· The greater integration of the Research Councils and the creation of Research Councils UK (RCUK)
· Increased emphasis on business interaction with research and knowledge transfer
· HEFCE research and business interaction funding developments
Regional Perspective
· Regionality and research
· The inter-relationship of research and funding with the roles of the Regional Development Agencies
Plenary speakers will cover the breadth of the themes whilst smaller workshop sessions will look at specific topics in more depth.
