The 2nd Congress of the Mediterranean Society of Reproductive Medicine will take place in Alexandria, Egypt from 28 to 30 May 2003.

The Mediterranean Society of Reproductive Medicine offers a scientific forum aiming at improving the knowledge and services in the field of gynaecology and fertility and promoting scientific cooperation between physicians and scientists working in these fields in the Mediterranean area. The scientific interests of the Congress embrace all aspects of human reproduction, namely: endocrinological gynaecology, assisted reproduction, endoscopic surgery, contraception, menopausal problems, and other related fields.

As 2003 coincides with the silver jubilee of the first IVF success, we are planning to celebrate this unique event during the congress and Professor Robert Edwards has kindly agreed to be the guest of honor of this celebration.

The Congress will take place in the Alexandria Conference Center of the new Bibliotheca Alexandrina, the UNESCO project for the revival of the old Alexandria Library, overlooking the Mediterranean Sea (http://www.unesco.org/webworld/alexandria_new). As you know Alexandria was the center of Mediterranean culture and science at the beginning of the 1st millennium. At the beginning of the 3rd millennium, we are proud to hold this meeting next the premises of this new monument for science and culture.

The scientific programme will include state of the art lectures, keynote lectures, scientific debates as well as a selected number of communications. There will also be a trade exhibition showing the latest products and equipment in the field.

In May, the weather in Alexandria is usually excellent and the temperature ranges from 14 to 28 degrees Celsius. The Conference Center overlooks the Mediterranean Sea giving an ideal opportunity for mixing business with pleasure.
