China’s urban rail infrastructure already represents three-quarters of the world’s entire urban rail market, and China will soon be investing USD $26 billion more in further development of its nation-wide urban rail infrastructure for the next two years alone. At this event, critical issues will be discussed regarding the opening of China’s urban railway market, including MAGLEV technology potential in the China and international industries, advanced TETRA engineering, urban rail project finance & risk analysis, as well as urban rail system development and upgrading for the upcoming 2008 Olympics in Beijing.

In addition to providing key China urban rail marketing and industry information, this event will also provide opportunities to discuss upcoming mass transit rail projects with policy and decision makers from over 37 of China’s largest cities (including Shanghai, Beijing, Guangzhou, Hangzhou, Nanjing, Wuhan, Qingdao, Changchun, Xi’an, Shenzhen, and Suzhou).

Thus, the Ministry of Construction P R, China (MOC) and the UITP are jointly endorsing and supporting the world’s largest urban rail summit concerning the China market for this year, to be entitled the China Urban Rail Summit 2003.

This summit will be held on 24 - 25 April 2003 at the Marriott Hotel, Shanghai and will discuss possibilities, challenges, and potential in the world’s largest booming urban rail market. The event is jointly designed by the China Urban Rail Transit Committee as well as the Shanghai Institute of International Strategic Studies (SIISS) and is being organized by the Shanghai International Consulting Corporation (SICC).
