First Logistics Conference in Fujairah on 22nd February 2003
The event of this new year is the launch of the Logistics Conference at Fujairah Business Club on February 22, 2003 through the consortium of Fujairah Free Zone, Port of Fujairah and Fujairah International Airport. The conference will be focusing on the main theme of
SURGING SUPPLY CHAIN STRATEGIES:
A VITAL LOGISTICS LINK TO THE EAST COAST
The conference will be inaugurated by His Excellency, Sheikh Saleh Al Sharqi and will present papers from 8 experts on variety of logistics topics that will enhance the role of Fujairah as a vital supply chain link to the region. Although, Furjairah is shaping up to be tourism centre, yet it has natural advantage as world’s second largest bunkering facility in the world, second only to Singapore. A large potential trade is up and running the transportation of aggregates to the rest of the UAE and neighbouring countries. The plan to implement the direct highway link between Dubai and Fujairah with the expansion of road infrastructure adds considerable value to the logistics of the region. It will counteract the pull of the new port under construction in the proximity of the region located at Sohar, Oman.
In such a dynamic scenario where key performance indicator depends on how well logistics is integrated into the game plan of Fujairah economic planning is the concern of the experts participating at the conference. From the logistics of the pipeline led by multinational oil companies to containerization of multilateral trade in the region will keep the delegates interested in the development of East Coast. The clock ticks to collaborative planning, forecasting and replenishment (CPFR) as a strategy to develop in the networked economy. Of course, this will provide important lessons to the next generation of logistics leadership that will be constantly grappling with e-fullfillment challenges of the region. The collaborative logistics will change the rules of shipping industry and the implication for all involved will go beyond the simple links of a supply chain management.
The Fujairah Logistics Conference will also explore what it means to live in an unprecedented time of consolidation within supply chain management that will reward small number of companies with tremendous value. UPS buys Fritz, APL buys GATX Logistics, MMI working together with Freightworks.
Where will it end? Why is this happening, who will be the winners, and how can you benefit? This trend is driven by three major factors: the shipper’s quest for lead logistics providers (LLPs), technology and the emergence of deep-pocketed logistics acquirers. Learn all about these trends and issues that will be addressed by speakers at the conference.
